About us
Little Saplings Preschool is located at 1653 J street in the John Ryan Youth Center building. Our front entrance is equipped with a coded security lock. All visitors will be greeted by a staff member and all parents will be given the code upon enrollment. Little Saplings is licensed under the State of California, Community Care Licensing Division. We are licensed for 24 children, serving children ages 2.5 through 6. Children must be independently toileting before enrolling.
We want to make every effort to ensure that our preschool is a good fit for your child. We invite you to visit Little Saplings, meet our director and teachers and see our program in action! Our large classroom is bright and inviting with special nooks and cozy corners. We offer interest centers and areas for the children to discover and explore. Some, you may expect to find in a typical preschool and some that may surprise you. From the block and building area to the dramatic play center. China tea set for two, self-care station, weaving and stitching and small worlds. You will notice that we are natured inspired and do our best to include nature into our classroom environment. Our classroom also includes an art and writing center, science and math, literature and language, manipulatives and fine motor skills as well. Knowing the importance the classroom has on the child’s learning and development we are always updating and creating these areas to hold the children’s interest in exploring and learning.
Our play yard is what you might expect of a large back yard. Little Saplings is situated in a residential neighborhood and as such we have that feel on our playground. Birds chirping, neighborhood dogs barking as well as the occasional sound of a neighbor’s sprinkler puts us in the heart of the community. Our yard is big, really big! Little Saplings wants to get kids back to playing in nature! Exploring and discovering for themselves. Climbing, balancing, jumping, pushing and pulling, digging, mixing in mud, planting gardens, PLAYING!!! We will continue to add to our natural playscape yard with stumps to jump off of, planks to balance on and build with, vegetable, flower and sniping herb gardens, mud pie kitchen and so much more! We believe that the outside is an extended classroom where the learning continues!
Little Saplings is the first preschool to be offered through the City of Eureka, Community Services Department.
